A quick look at installing Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex beta, which came out on 2th October 2008. I downloaded the desktop amd64 LiveCD. The familiar ubuntu orange brown is still very much alive in the new version. Some people like it, some people hate it, I don’t really care because customisations are simple.
After a CD integrity checking, I booted into the LiveCD desktop.

Here are the screenshots of the installation process when clicking on the “Install” icon on the desktop.
1. Select language.

2. Select location.

3. Select keyboard layout.

4. Simple partitioning.

5. Enter user’s / login information.

6. Final confirmation screen.

That’s it. First impression is great! There were numerous UI improvements, plus a few bugs, which took considerable time to report to Launchpad. But it’s a beta after all.
