A while back, I posted about installing pidgin-plugin-pack to enhance the functionalities of Pidgin.
Since then, I have discovered an additional plugin, which is not part of the plugin pack. This plugin is called “pidgin-libnotify”. It creates notification popup balloons to inform you about activities, such as new incoming message, buddy sign in/off, etc.
To install, use Synaptic Package Manager, or run this terminal command:
sudo apt-get install pidgin-libnotify
Once installed, you will get a new plugin called “Libnotify Popups”. The configuration available for this plugin is shown below.
The configuration items are pretty much self-explanatory, so I will not explain further.

I’m not familiar with using Pidgin on the Windows platform. However, a quick Google came up with this:

Again, I don’t use Pidgin in Windows, so I have no idea how well this work. Thanks for reading.
