This week, a pasar malam came to my neighbourhood. Among the usual stalls selling malay food, snacks, household items, cheap clothings, handphone accessories, etc, it also included an offbeat stall selling cars. Yes, cars, automobiles, four wheelers, horseless carriage.
However, one unique thing caught my eyes. It was a small stall with a lady selling roasted chestnuts. What was unique about it was the upmarket packaging of the merchandise. Apparently, this was not any backyard roasted chestnuts. It was a branded roasted chestnuts from Qian Xi county in China.
Quote from the packaging:
“Qian Xi county in China, produces one of the best chestnuts in the world. Its unique geographical location, soil quality and climate provides Qian Xi the ideal conditions for cultivating premium quality chestnuts.”
